Understanding Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder that causes your breathing to repeatedly stop and start during the night. Left untreated, it can lead to fatigue, weight gain, high blood pressure, and even heart disease. Many people go undiagnosed for years — but now, getting answers is easier than ever.

Loud, persistent snoring and constant fatigue—no matter how much sleep you get—are two of the most common signs of sleep apnea. These symptoms are often overlooked but can point to a deeper issue that deserves attention.

Some of the other symptoms include:

    • Waking up gasping for air
    • Morning headaches or dry mouth

    • Excessive daytime sleepiness

    • Trouble focusing or memory issues

    • Irritability or mood changes

The Process

How Does A Consultation Work?

Start with an online consultation where we’ll review your sleep symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle. If a sleep study is needed, we’ll arrange for you to receive a device.

STEP 1

SCHEDULE YOUR CONSULT NOW

You’ll receive a compact, user-friendly sleep device—if recommended—to use in the comfort of your own bed. The overnight study then tracks your breathing, oxygen levels, and sleep patterns.

STEP 2

COMPLETE THE SLEEP STUDY

Meet with your provider again to review your results in detail. Get a personalized treatment plan, which may include a CPAP device, lifestyle changes, or a referral to an outside specialist.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a sleep apnea consultation cost?

Each visit is $120. Most patients need two visits—an initial consultation and a follow-up after the home sleep study. Both are billed separately, ensuring you get clear, personalized care with no hidden fees.

Do you accept insurance or HSA/FSA cards?

Yes, we accept CareFirst, Cigna, Humana, Aetna, Medicare, Medicaid, and United Healthcare for sleep apnea consultations. We also accept HSA and FSA cards for your convenience. If you’re unsure about coverage, you can contact our team to get help with verifying your benefits.

How long does it take to get results from a home sleep study?

In most cases, results are available within 3–5 business days after we receive the device back.

What if my sleep study is normal but I still feel exhausted?

We’ll explore other possible causes of your fatigue, including hormone imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, or cardiac-related issues, and may order additional testing if needed.

Can children or teens be seen for sleep apnea at True Phoenix?

At this time, we primarily focus on adult patients. However, we’re happy to refer families to a trusted pediatric sleep specialist if needed.

Do I have to do a sleep study every year?

No, not unless symptoms return or worsen. If you’re being treated and doing well, we simply monitor your progress through regular check-ins.

Testimonials

What Our Patients Are Saying

I was tired all the time and assumed it was just stress. The at-home test confirmed I had sleep apnea, and now that I’m using a CPAP, I feel like a different person.

Lamont J.

Seen, Heard, & Respected Patient

The sleep study actually showed I didn’t have sleep apnea—but it picked up irregular patterns that led me to discover an underlying heart condition. I’m so glad I took the sleep study.

Trish K.

Seen, Heard, & Respected Patient

After months of brain fog and morning headaches, I finally got tested. The team was amazing from start to finish. I sleep better now and feel more focused during the day.
